This 2018 Spear Vineyard Pinot Noir has a bright ruby red color. The nose is very expressive and unmistakably Pinot Noir with pomegranate, clove and earthy spice. I also pick up notes of black tea and underbrush from 30% whole cluster fermentation. On the palate, the wine has a distinctively light body and delicacy that is in contrast to the intensity of the flavor of the wine. There is a definite savory quality on the finish that is due to that stem inclusion during fermentation. This wine should age gracefully for 7-10 years.
Grown on a steep, rocky slope on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, this Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibits the earthy, crushed stone minerality that we look for in great Pinot Noir.
A light, soft and elegant Pinot Noir that shows off the terrific farming the Zotovich family is doing. This is the perfect Pinot Noir to enjoy during the Springtime!
On the palate the wine is crisp, bright and lifted. It comes across fresh and driven by red fruits, minerality and juicy acidity. The finish is clean and soft and lingers due to a slight dose of stem tannin.
