2016 Grenache, Kimsey
Kimsey Vineyard

We have been looking forward to getting this wine out and added to our line-up for a while now. The popularity of Grenache has really come on strong in the local area and is picking up nationwide, and for good reason. It’s delicious! Despite its rising popularity though, I think the quality of Grenache is as closely tied to where it’s grown as any varietal out there. Grenache, in general, is a blending varietal but when grown in the right place it can stand on its own and can make a wonderfully complex and age worthy wine. Ballard Canyon is one of those special places and the Kimsey vineyard in particular is a great place for this grape. Like our other wines, the goal here is for you to taste this amazing fruit and not winemaking or barrels. This wine is fermented in small 1.5 ton fermenters and then gently pressed to tank. It is then aged in neutral French oak barrels (imparting no flavors or aroma) for 16 months, so all you taste is delicious Grenache.
