2015 Pinot Noir, Bentrock Vineyard

From the challenging 2015 vintage we again selected our Bentrock Pinot Noir as one of the components of our flagship wine, “Walk Slow.” We did however, set aside 2 older, neutral barrels in order to make this single vineyard bottling. Grown on a steep, rocky slope on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, this Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibits the earthy, crushed stone minerality that we look for in great Pinot Noir. A wine that shows distinctive character based on where it’s grown is always the goal, especially when it comes to Pinot. This wine was handled in the exact same way as the rest of our Pinot Noirs with a small number of whole clusters during fermentation and gentle daily punch downs. It stayed in barrel for 16 months before being bottled.
