For 2016 we sourced Grenache from a vineyard called Mesa Verde right in the middle of the Santa Ynez Valley. We don’t normally pick fruit from that far into the valley because, for us, it’s all about cool climate fruit. In this case though, we wanted to pick early to maintain bright acidity and to promote a fresh and vibrant wine. At the same time, we also wanted the fruit to have developed some riper flavors. The warmer part of the valley made perfect sense in order to achieve both goals. The result is delicious and it remains our favorite Spring/Summer wine. Provided there’s still some available come Summer time!
