2013 Pinot Noir
Bentrock Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills
This wine has great Pinot Noir varietal character but it is its lean structure and earthy qualities, that really didn’t become apparent until the wine had fully developed in barrel, that make it really special. There is also, at its core, a minerality that is unmistakable. All of which make perfect sense if you go out to Bentrock and feel the tension between the sun and the slopes and the soil and the wind. It’s all there…and it’s all in the bottle.
Tasting Note: Sweet floral fruit aromas mix with an earthy crushed stone quality and a bit of that Sta. Rita Hills spice to form a wonderfully complex nose. On the pallet black cherry and pomegranate flavors along with crisp acidity and a hint of salinity from the stems keep the wine lively and full of energy.
